Holiday in Lulworth Cove, Dorset with HF Holidays

Sixteen members of the club set off in the rain for a three day guided walking holiday in Dorset.  They stayed at the recently refurbished HF Country House  in Lulworth Cove which proved to be the perfect base for exploring this glorious fossil rich  coastline.  Food was plentiful and to a high standard.

Each day three walks were on offer to suit the needs of all.   The group enjoyed the remarkable coastal paths, views of the iconic cliffs, rugged headlands and hidden bays.  After the wet start to the holiday the weather proved very kind with blue skies and little cloud.but windy at times. The group benefited from the considerable expertise that HF Holidays bring to organizing walking holidays.  A holiday that was enjoyed by all.  See the photos on the Photo Events page.

Christmas Lunch and walk at the Bull's Head, Chelmarsh.

This is the second year that we have held our Christmas lunch at the Bull's Head and we are all hoping that it will live up to the high standard of last year.  The lunch is preceded by a short walk with a stop for coffee and mince pies.  We also make a collection for a chosen charity which is yet to be decided.

Each year we nominate a charity and take a collection.  This year it is West Mercia Search and Rescue.  This is a dedicated team of volunteers trained in all types of lowland and rural rescues from missing persons, flood victims and anyone caught up in an emergency situation.

Training, equipment and overheads are all funded by charitable donations.  It could be anyone of us caught up in a similar situation so we believe that this is a very worthy cause.

Tuesday 3rd and Wednesday 4th March 2020

4 Night Break in Oakham, Rutland with Rutland Trails

A first for us is a visit to the beautiful and historical small county of Rutland.  This time we have the advantage of an experienced local leader, Ian Strange who set up his company having walked the length and breadth of Rutland in 5 days.  A total distance of 65 miles but not difficult as Rutland is only 18 miles by 19 miles.!  Despite its small size Rutland has a varied and everchanging landscape.  It is the home to Rutland Water, an important artificial reservoir and nature reserve.  Oakham Castle is the oldest English Court building in continuous use since 1229.

We shall be staying at the 3* Wisteria Hotel in Oakham and as each days activities start and end in Oakham the car keys can have a rest.

Places available.
